Natural Variations Policy

Heratia LLC
Last updated: 2026

At Heratia, our rugs are handcrafted by skilled artisans using traditional weaving techniques. Because each piece is made by hand using natural materials, no two rugs will ever be exactly identical.
Natural variations in size, color, texture, and pattern are expected and are part of the authenticity and character of handmade rugs.

Handmade Characteristics

Each Heratia rug may display natural characteristics that occur during the handweaving process. These may include:
  • Slight variations in size (approximately ±2–3%)
  • Minor irregularities in pattern alignment or symmetry
  • Subtle variations in color tone known as abrash
  • Slight differences in weave tension or edge shape
  • Small variations in pile height or texture
These features are normal and are considered signs of genuine handmade craftsmanship.

Color Variations

We photograph our rugs carefully to represent them as accurately as possible. However, colors may appear different due to:
  • Lighting condition
  • Screen or device settings
  • Natural variation in wool fibers and dyes
Because of these factors, slight color differences between photographs and the product received are expected.

Shedding

Wool rugs may shed fibers during the initial months of use. This is a normal characteristic of natural wool and typically decreases over time with regular care.

Not Considered Defects

The variations described above are natural characteristics of handmade rugs and are not considered manufacturing defects.

Acceptance of Natural Characteristics

By purchasing from Heratia, customers acknowledge that handmade rugs may contain natural variations and accept these characteristics as part of the authenticity of handcrafted goods.
Customers seeking perfectly uniform, machine-produced products may find that handmade rugs differ from their expectations.
