Cleaning Guide

Cleaning Process

Our rugs are crafted from premium natural wool and made to be enjoyed for generations. With proper care and gentle maintenance, their texture, character, and beauty will continue to develop over time.

Everyday Care

  • Vacuum lightly using suction only. Avoid rotating brush heads or beater bars.
  • Vacuum in the direction of the pile whenever possible.
  • Rotate the rug every 6–12 months for even wear and balanced exposure to light.
  • Use a quality rug pad underneath for added support and airflow.

Spill & Spot Care

  • Address spills immediately.
  • Blot gently with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub.
  • Use cold water to lightly dab the area.
  • For minor spots, use a small amount of mild wool-safe soap diluted with water.
  • Always test any cleaner on an inconspicuous area first.

What to Avoid

  • Harsh chemicals or bleach
  • Steam cleaning
  • Excessive moisture or soaking
  • Aggressive scrubbing
  • Prolonged direct sunlight
  • Standard carpet shampoos not intended for natural fibers

Professional Cleaning

For deeper cleaning, we recommend a professional rug specialist experienced with hand-crafted wool rugs and delicate dyes. Depending on use, a professional wash every 3–5 years is often ideal.

Natural Shedding

Some light shedding may occur with natural wool, especially when new. This is normal and will lessen over time with regular care.

Storage

  • Clean before storing
  • Roll rather than fold
  • Wrap in breathable fabric
  • Store in a cool, dry place
  • Avoid long-term plastic wrapping

Designed to Last

With thoughtful care, a fine wool rug will age beautifully, maintaining its softness, richness, and timeless presence for years to come.
